On January 22, hosted by Confucius Institute Headquarters(Hanban) and the Embassy of PRC in Tanzania, and co-hosted by Confucius Institute at the University co-built with Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics(ZUA), the Third Chinese Song Contest for Students in University and Secondary School is grandly held at the auditorium of Dodoma Secondary School.
The contest welcomes Professor Wang Xiaohui and Dr. Rafiki, both deans of ZUA-Confucius Institute at the University of Dodoma, directors of the Confucius Class of Zanzibar Journalism and Mass Media College and representatives of principals, teachers and students of secondary schools from all over Tanzania.

Dr. Rafiki addresses the contest. "To learn Chinese, to have friends all over the world." Dr. Rafiki expresses her hope that students in university and secondary school in Tanzanian could learn and use Chinese well to be the envoys of friendship between China and Tanzania. Professor Wang Xiaohui expects the students to improve their Chinese proficiency through Chinese song competitions.
The contest is made up of two groups from university and secondary school one. After the competitions conducted in all regions, a total of 30 contestants from these two groups equally, come to the final. Based on the principles of fairness and justice, the contest witnesses many popular songs accompanied with the applauses of the audience in three hours of fierce competition, like Happy Home, Blue and White Porcelain, Traveling with You, Olive Tree, Patriotism, Riding the White Horse, Spring Blossoms, State of Ceremony and so on.
Judges from Chinese-funded or Chinese-owned enterprises, score with every seriousness.
In the end, Lulu from Confucius Institute at the University of Dodoma wins the university championship with "At Least with You" and Bao Aici from the Confucius Institute at the University of Dar es Salaam sings "Chinese" to conquer all Chinese Corporate judges and wins the championship in secondary school group. Contestants from other Chinese learning schools are awarded the second and third prizes as well as individual awards. The Best Instructor Awards go to four teachers--Shi Yuelan, Chen Dandan, Gu Yongfang and Liu Zheng.
The Chinese song contest is held the third time by ZUA-Confucius Institute at the University of Dodoma. Such a large-scale song contest attracts people from all walks of life in Tanzania.
