The School of Computer Science
The School of Compute Science was first established in June 2000, and originated from the teaching and research sector of computer in the basic teaching division of ZUA. It began to enroll three-year undergraduate students majoring in Computer Application in 1994. Six years later, it began to offer four-year undergraduate programs. In 2009, the school founded a Software School to provide vocational and technical trainings.
About 64 faculty and staff work here. Among our staff, there are 30 professors or associate professors. 56 of them are with their doctoral or master’s degree. They have won great honors awarded at the national and provincial levels. For example, one of our teachers is honored as the National Outstanding Teacher, and one is listed in the New Century Talent Supporting Project by the Ministry of Education. We also have 2 academic leaders who are supported by the Department of Education in Henan Province.
The school hosts five teaching and research sectors: Computer Science and Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science and Technology (specialized in Embedded System Development), Software and Discipline Basis. There are three laboratory centers including Intelligent Signals and Information Processing Lab, Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems Lab and Computer Technology Lab, which is a model lab in ZUA. It offers 3 four-year undergraduate programs including Computer Science and Technology, Network Engineering, Embedded System Development, and 5 two-year undergraduate programs (Computer Information Management, CAT, Software Technology, Graphic Design Production, and Network System Management). Among them, the major of Computer Science and Technology is listed as a special major by ZUA. It is listed in Engineers Cultivation Program by the Ministry of Education and is also enrolled in the reform project supported by Henan Province, which aims at the reform of talent cultivation. We have also fostered 3 teaching teams respectively for public computer courses, core courses in computer science, and network engineering.
The school is well equipped with a provincial research platform of Multi-mode Information Reception, and embraces several research teams in the fields of picture processing, mode recognition, intelligence system, competitive intelligence, network informationization. Some of them have achieved greatly in their fields and won such honorable titles as Innovative Research Team at the provincial, ministerial and school levels.
Since its foundation, the school sticks to its principle of being aviation-based and IT-oriented, to incorporate management with polytechnic disciplines. We aim to cultivate comprehensive and application-based talents with innovative abilities. The school currently accommodates 1,700 full time students. Our students, in recent years, have won a lot of medals in various kinds of competitions, such as ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest, ITAT National Information Technology Contest, National Robot Contest, National Undergraduate Computer Design Contest, H3C Network Technology Contest etc.. They have obtained different national professional certificates like software engineer, network engineer and are accredited by noted IT firms like Cisco, RedHat and Huawei etc.. Every year, a large number of our graduates are admitted to top universities or research institutes in China to further their study, and others work for the national or local governments, military forces, financial institutions, large IT companies, and multinational corporations etc.
