School of Electronic and Communication Engineering

As one of the pillars of national economic development, the electronic information and communication industry is one of the most vigorous sectors, and one of the strategic emerging industries in China. To cover the increasing needs for talents in Electronic Information Engineering, Communication Engineering, and Internet of Things, we are aiming to foster application-oriented talents with strong capabilities, under the principle of a combination of theoretical learning and practical abilities. The school is featured with its incorporation of production, academic teaching, and research, and has made many achievements in major construction and talents cultivation in recent years.

Now there are 3 undergraduate programs: Electronic Information Engineering, Communication Engineering, and Internet of Things. There are 4 teaching and researching sections including Electric Engineering, Electronic Information, Communication Engineering, and Internet of Things, and 2 research institutes, namely the key laboratory of Intelligent Signals and Information Processing, the Institute of Communication Engineering. They are established to support the teaching and research work in the school. We also have a comprehensive experiment center fully equipped with modern teaching facilities– the Electronic Information Experiment Center. In the center, 26 laboratories have been established: electric engineering lab, electronic technology lab, network-based electronics comprehensive lab, microcontroller lab, microcomputer principle lab, electronic measurement lab, high-frequency electronic lab, electronic circuit of communication lab, communication principle lab, signal and systems lab, mobile communication lab, optical fiber communication lab, program control communication lab, microwave and antenna lab, digital wireless communication lab, system simulation and modeling lab, communication system integration lab, radio-frequency circuit lab, embedded system lab, electronic CAD lab, EDA lab, DSP lab, electronic information cognition lab, electronic innovation lab, electronic information lab, and communication engineering lab. The electronic innovation lab is open to students throughout the day, which enables them to foster pratical operating abilities.

We have an experienced, dedicated and ambitious teaching team, primarily made up of young and middle-aged teachers. Among the 26 full-time teachers, there are 4 full professors, 7 associate professors, and 1 senior experimentalist. 25 of them have obtained doctoral or master Master’s degrees. We also invite 6 part-time professors. In recent years, with the joint efforts of the faculty and staff, we have made substantial achievements in the teaching and research work. More than 40 research projects in the national or provincial level have been carried out, including projects funded by the Aeronautical Science Foundation, the National Defense Preliminary Research Project, Technical Transformation Project for National Defense, Technological Projects in Henan, the Bid Project of the Government’s Decision-Making in Henan province, and projects funded by the Natural Science Foundation in Henan province etc. Over 170 papers have been published, and 70 of them are indexed by SCI, EI, and ISTP. 10 books have been compiled, such as Microcomputer Principles and Interface Technology, DSP Principle and Application; 6 excellent online courses, such as Electronic Circuit Design, Microcomputer Principles and Interface Technology, have been developed.  

We place great emphasis on the cultivation of students’ practical abilities and have co-founded a lot of training bases with some famous aviation enterprises, research institutes, and high-tech enterprises nationwide. This greatly helps to foster students’ innovative consciousness and abilities. Our students take advantage of the learning resources here to develop their potentials. They have won a lot of medals in professional contests, including the second prize in National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest, the third prize in National Design and Skill Contest for Electronic Majors, and the first prize in Henan Undergraduate “Challenge Cup” Contest. The admission rate of our students in the National Graduate Entrance Examination is increasing year by year, and the annual employment rate is on the top list of all the schools in ZUA.
