Founded in April, 2009, Vocational and Technical School of Software is located in the south campus of ZUA. With its well-established facilities and advantageous location, the school has now held more than 600 registered students and a faculty of 53 members. There are four teaching and research sectors including Computer System and Structure, Computer Software, Computer Application, and Network Engineering, one Laboratory Center for Computer Technology and one Institute of Computer Technology Application.
The school is proud to have its experienced teaching faculty. Among the 53 teachers, there are 3 professors, 12 associate professors and 26 instructors, 6 of them with doctorate degrees, and 34 with master’s degrees. Its teachers have won tremendous honors at different levels including 1 National Outstanding teacher, and 1 Outstanding Teacher at the provincial level. The school pays special attention to the construction of its teaching teams, recruiting talents from famous universities and IT industries at home and abroad to be its backbone teachers. It not only hires senior engineers who works in the area of software production to be part-time teachers, but also signs long-term contracts with some famous software companies like Cisco and Ruijie to help their own teachers participate in professional trainings, so as to improve their theoretical knowledge and practical skills. This enables them to keep up with the cutting edge technologies. The two online academies, Cisco Networking Academy and Ruijie Networking Academy have already been approved to offer multi-level trainings and award authentication certificates. In the past two years, 5 teachers have passed the examinations and become certified instructors in networking engineering.
The school provides well-established facilities for teaching and living to its teachers and students. With one library（8000㎡）, 16 multi-media classrooms, several standardized sports grounds (1 football field, 10 basketball fields and 5 volleyball fields), one 500-seat auditorium, one canteen （3924㎡）, and a dormitory building(1222㎡), the school can accommodate more than 3000 students.
The school hosts advanced laboratories, including Computer Network Technology Lab, Network Building Lab, Computer Interface Technology Lab, Computer Maintenance Lab, Software Engineering Lab and Network Technology Lab, covering a floor area of over 300 square meters. All the labs are well equipped with advanced equipments whose total value is worth nearly 200 million Yuan. The teaching team has earned tremendous prizes and awards both for teaching and research. They have been hosting or participating in more than 80 projects at the national or provincial levels, including that supported by the Natural Science Foundation of China. They have received over 20 awards by Henan Province, such as Henan Technological Invention Award. Their publications include 10 books and more than 100 academic papers, winning more than 10 prizes awarded by the Education Ministry of Henan Province. There are 3 online courses which are easily accessed by our students and another 3 are under construction. Also, more than 10 CAI courseware devised by its teachers have already been used in teaching process or educational measurement.
Sticking to the principle of integrating theoretical learning and practice, the school has strengthened its cooperation with many software companies and established several training bases in them, such as Henan 863 Software Incubator Company, Huasoft International Company, Luoyang Peony Telecommunication Company etc., providing its graduates with adequate internship opportunities.
The school has now been offering five 2-year diploma programs, including Computer Information Management, Computer Applications Technology, Software Technology, Graphics and Image Technology, and Network System Management.
