On 16thNovember,2017, Yang Pei, Vice President of Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics (ZUA), and Thierry LASSERRE, the general representative of the Alliance Française in China , signed Zhengzhou-Alliance Française Cooperation Agreement, announcing the official landing of Alliance Française in Zhengzhou, which demonstrates another tangible achievement since the French Embassy in China released the news of landing on 20thApril this year.
On the signing ceremony, Mr.Yang Pei introduced the history and development of ZUA to Mr. LASSERRE, and reviewed all the efforts spent on the application for the branch office of Alliance Française in ZUA over the past 2 years. He mentioned that since the application for cooperation with Alliance Française started in the early 2015, ZUA had been actively participating in and organizing all kinds of activities sponsored by Alliance Française. Many Chinese and French educational experts and scholars have visited ZUA and discussed further corporation, such as the former general representative of Alliance Française in China, Chinese and French principals from Alliance Française in Qingdao and Xi’an, the vice councilor of French Embassy in China, the general coordinator of Higher Education Department in China and representatives of Chinexpansion Company.
Mr.LASSERRE showed his gratitude for our great efforts and promised that the French Principal would take office in January 2018. According to Mr.LASSERRE, there had been 850 branch offices of Alliance Française in 136 countries, and the office in Zhengzhou would be the 18thin China. He also expressed his appreciation for all the conveniences provided during this process. He wished the Zhengzhou office of Alliance Française and the French major in ZUA could achieve win-win cooperation and offer a platform for intercultural communication between Henan Province and French provinces and cities.
Alliance Française was established in 1883. It is a non-profit public service organization accredited by the French government, and aims to popularize French language and culture. All the French presidents are the honorary principals of Alliance Française. The office of Alliance Française in ZUA will expand the opening up, exchanges and cooperation in terms of education in Henan Province. It will also play a vital role in cultural exchanges, opening up and sharing, and bridging language gaps.
