On December 12, 2017, Yang Pei, Vice President of Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics, and Yang Xinxin, Director of International Office of ZUA, attended the 12th Confucius Institute Conference as Chinese delegates.
The theme of this conference is to“strengthen cooperation, promote innovative development, and contribute to the establishment of a community of shared future for mankind”. Mr. Liu Yandong, Vice Prime Minister of State Council and President of Board of Directors of the Confucius Institute Headquarter, attended the conference and delivered a keynote speech. Presidents of universities and colleges from over 140 countries, delegates from over 2,500 Confucius Institutes or Confucius Classes, foreign envoys in China, representatives from language and culture promoting organizations, relevant departments and commissions of Chinese government, local education department, and delegates from relevant Chinese universities attended the conference.
As an annual feast for all Confucius Institutes across the world, Confucius Institute Conference is regarded as the Davos in educational field and has been successfully held for 11 years. The purpose of this conference is to summarize experiences, intensify exchanges, and strengthen cooperation. This year, the conference aims to promote intrinsic development with the spirit of reform, upgrade the quality and efficiency of education, pool wisdom from other countries together to bring about a new dimension for the development of Confucius Institutes.
Until now, 525 Confucius Institutes and 1113 Confucius Classes in Middle Schools and Primary Schools in 146 countries and regions have been established. In 2017, the number of students of Confucius Institutes and Classes totaled 2.32million, and the number of attendees of cultural activities totaled 12.72million.
