Teaching Department of Ideological and Political Theory
The Teaching Department of Ideological and Political Theory is under the direct management of Party Committee of ZUA. It is responsible for teaching ideological and political theories to students and doing academic research in the discipline of Marxism. There are three teaching and research sections, namely Basic Principles of Marxism, Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Fundamentals of Laws and Outline of Modern Chinese History, and Mao Zedong Thought and the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
Among its 36 full-time teaching staff, 2 are professors, 12 are associate professors and 16 are lecturers. 9 of them have obtained their doctoral degrees, and 20 of them have master’s degrees. It also hosts a team of 20 part-time professors. Together they have formed an experienced team in teaching, research and learning with a pioneer spirit.
Since 2006, our teachers have won numerous honors such as Advanced Individual, Prominent Teacher, and Excellent Communist Party Member awarded by ZUA, and the title of Civilized Teacher awarded by Henan Province. Many of them have won prizes in teaching competitions organized at the provincial and university level, which also earns our school a “Bole Award” by ZUA.
Since the launch of No.5 program, the department has been implementing the project of “Refining Ideological and Political Teaching”. Up to now, we have already completed one school-level excellent course (Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Basic Law Education), and one online course (Basic Principles of Marxism). Two more excellent courses are under construction, which are Mao Zedong Thought and the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and Outline of Modern Chinese History. Due to the construction of these courses, our teaching quality has been steadily improved.
The department attaches great importance to the discipline construction and was approved to be enrolled in ZUA’s project on general discipline construction in 2009. This helps to clarify two stable study orientations for its teaching staff and set up an academic team in the field of ideological and political theory teaching and research. Since 2009, our teachers have published more than 200 papers and over 10 monographs and have undertaken over 100 projects at various levels. At the present stage, major task for the department lies in teaching courses on ideological and political theory to undergraduate students, and it is also fully prepared for the upcoming postgraduate students in the near future.
